The U.S. Supreme Court is not going to hear the state's appeal of a judge's decision to throw out Michael Skakel's murder conviction.
The state now must decide whether to retry the Kennedy cousin for the 1975 Greenwich murder of Martha Moxley, when both were 15-years-old.
Skakel was convicted of the killing in 2002 and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.
He served over a decade in prison before a judge tossed his conviction in 2013 because of ineffective counsel at trial.
It is unclear what Connecticut officials will do next.
They could refile their case and start from scratch or enter into a plea negotiation.
No word on when they will decide.
