The woman who died from stab wounds in Westfield is identified as 20-year-old Alexis Avery.
The Hampden County District Attorney's office says 23-year-old Blake Scanlon is facing murder and other charges.
He was in the apartment when police arrived yesterday and had what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds.
Scanlon is being held without the right to bail after pleading not guilty in Westfield District Court.
Avery and Scanlon reportedly have a child together.
