Pending approval by the Massachusetts legislature, elected officials can now be recalled in the town of Longmeadow.
A two-thirds majority of voters said yes to an article allowing for recalls at a special town meeting on Thursday night.
Members of the Longmeadow Select Board are exempt.
The action was sparked by residents upset that the School Committee did not renew the contract of the superintendent of Longmeadow Public Schools recently.
The Attorney General is investigating as well.
