A surprise announcement from the Springfield Police Department where Commissioner John Barbieri is retiring, effective immediately. The Commissioner ending a 31 year career, the last 5 as the city's Top Cop. The retirement comes as the department has gone through several issues with excessive force among some police officers. Deputy Chief Cheryl Claprood becomes the acting chief of the department. Barbieri did attend the announcement.
