Massachusetts Congressman Joe Kennedy is cosponsoring a Medicare for All Bill.
He says the American health care system is rife with inequities that have no place in the richest and most powerful country in the world.
Kennedy says he believes the House bill is a strong road map for the future of the nation's health care system.
The proposal has 107 co-sponsors and would cover more services than a similar plan recently proposed by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. The plan would pay for not just primary medical care but also prescription drugs, dental care, eye care, reproductive health care, long-term care, mental health care and substance abuse treatment.
Republicans say that the proposal would bankrupt the country.
