Federal charges are being filed against the man accused of kidnapping and killing Jassy Correia.
The U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling said Louis Coleman is being charged with kidnapping resulting in death, which is eligible for the death penalty.
The 23-year-old Correia was last seen leaving a Boston nightclub the morning of February 24th. Lelling says that same morning, surveillance video shows the suspect carrying a limp body into his Providence, Rhode Island home. Detectives later found video and receipts of Coleman at a Walmart buying body suits, duct tape, electrical tape, a mask, gloves and goggles. Then on Thursday, surveillance video shows him carrying a suitcase into his home and a few hours later carrying it out into his trunk. That same day, he was stopped by police near Wilmington, Delaware. When asked if he was alone in the car, Coleman allegedly told officers she's in the trunk and that's when the victim's naked and bruised body was discovered in the suitcase covered in baking soda and wrapped in plastic. There was some speculation that the body of the 23 year old woman was either dismembered or mutilated in some way. Authorities denied those reports. They believe she died from blunt force trauma and strangulation.
