Public budget hearings begin Monday in Springfield for the 2020 fiscal year.
The city department heads will submit and discuss their budget requests with Mayor Domenic Sarno and the Office of Management and Budget.
The budget will eventually need approval from the mayor and the City Council, which holds its own hearings.
The current budget is 656.2 million dollars which was a 4 point 4 percent increase from the previous year.
The fiscal year 2014 budget by comparison was 571 point 8 million dollars.
