Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey is announcing seven settlements following a major investigation into nursing home facilities.
The A.G.'s office said yesterday that the investigations uncovered failures that led to death and injury.
One of the settlements is with Jewish Nursing Home of Longmeadow.
The nursing home and its non-profit owners will pay 85-thousand dollars to resolve allegations that staff knowingly failed to install updated, federally-compliant bed side rails, which led to the death of one resident and seriously injured another.
Healey says seven nursing homes are paying a total of 500 thousand dollars in order to settle the investigations.
