A Stop and Shop employee has filed an unfair labor practice complaint for alleged behavior against him during the worker strike that just ended.
The National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation says the employee has filed the charges against Springfield-based United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1459, one of the five union locals that had its workers go on strike earlier this month after a new contract was not agreed upon.
The charges alleged a top union official misinformed the employee by telling him he could not resign his union membership and return to work, or he would be fired.
It adds that the employee returned to work and has since been subjected to slurs based on sexual orientation and threats of violence either directly from union officials or instigated by them.
No word on when the charges will be heard.
