Judge Order Mental Health Exam For Cape Cod Man

A Massachusetts man is charged with attacking two people and killing one of them on the Appalachian Trail in southwest Virginia.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the West District of Virginia says West Yarmouth resident James Jordan was arrested early Saturday morning.

He's accused of stabbing a man and woman that day, killing the man.

Jordan is charged with murder and assault with intent to murder.

This is the first reported murder on the Appalachian Trail since 2011.

A Judge has ordered a mental evaluation on the suspect to be completed within 45 days.
