Springfield Acting Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood is announcing that she has fired a city officer who is facing separate charges of child rape and robbery.
Daniel Cintron has been on leave since 2017, when he was indicted for the mugging of a teenager at the Eastfield Mall.
An indictment on the child rape case came later.
Cintron is awaiting a trial in each case.
Clapprood said back in March that she intended to carry out the firing.
The now former officer had been on the force for three years.
