It's gone from a watch to an Excessive Heat Warning from the National Weather Service for most of Western Massachusetts this weekend.
Heat index values in Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties and most of the rest of Southern New England are expected to get up to 100 today.
On Saturday and Sunday, values are expected to range from 107 to 112 degrees.
The weather service says the level of heat and humidity will be very dangerous for any extended exposure.
There are cooling centers open in various communities including Springfield.
