The Longmeadow Fire Department is mourning the loss of long time Captain William DeFord.
The Retired Captain died after a long battle with Occupational Cancer.
Bill DeFord joined the Longmeadow Fire Department in July 1993, was promoted to Captain in February 2001 and retired in January 2018 due to occupational cancer.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
