The CEO of the payroll company which recently closed, affecting workers employed through Springfield-based United Personnel and others, is facing charges.
The U.S. Justice Department in Albany says Michael Mann, who operated MyPayrollHR based out of Clifton Park, New York, fraudulently obtained at least 70-million dollars in loans from banks and other financial institutions.
The DOJ says MyPayrollHR suddenly ceased operations earlier this month when Mann's banks froze his accounts.
That affected the company's clients because he allegedly diverted client payroll payments to a bank account he controlled.
