CRRC is lobbying for more contracts from the MBTA to keep business brisk at its Springfield plant.
That's according to comments made by Springfield state Representative Angelo Puppolo in a Boston Herald article.
CRRC already has contracts to make cars for the T's Orange and Red lines, as well as contracts for several other major U.S. transit systems.
China-based CRRC, as a state-owned company, is facing a potential ban on federal funds for building transit vehicles from the Trump administration, which a spokesperson says is a real threat.
