MGM Springfield took in 20-point-6-million dollars in gross gambling revenues in January, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
MGM Springfield had its worst-month ever in December, so this constitutes a rebound.
Those numbers were released yesterday, the same day a meeting was held to discuss how revenue from the casino is spent by the city. Springfield's chief financial officer,
Timothy Plante, said the casino is providing millions of dollars in payments to the city annually, which is helping balance the budget, but it isn't affecting property tax relief.
City Councilors are trying to figure out how the city has spent other monies generated by the casino devoted to police and community events.
