Holyoke is now joining other Massachusetts cities including Worcester and Boston that are canceling the Saint Patrick's Day Parade because of coronavirus concerns.
The Holyoke Saint Patrick's Committee says this was not an easy decision to make, in what was a change from a previous announcement this week that the parade would go on.
This would have been the 69th annual parade, which is being canceled along with the Saint Patrick's Road Race.
Mayor Alex Morse says that under consideration are ways to celebrate the Irish on a smaller basis.
