Criminal enterprises in possession of personal information stolen in a previous national data breach have been trying to file large amounts of fraudulent unemployment claims in Massachusetts. In response, the state Department of Unemployment Assistance is implementing additional identity verification measures. Certain claimants may be asked to provide additional identity information and the payment time frame for many jobless claims will be temporarily delayed.
