Morse Says He Will Not Leave Race For Congress Amid Allegations

Holyoke Mayor and Congressional candidate Alex Morse is facing a call from at least one city councilor to resign and an investigation from the University of Massachusetts. City Cpuncilor At Large Michael Sullivan made the call this weekend.

This is due to allegations published in a UMass student newspaper report that say Morse had inappropriate sexual relationships with students while he gave lectures there.

A spokesperson for the university says there are no plans to hire Morse back; he was an adjunct instructor in urban government and politics.

Morse acknowledged in a statement that he has had consensual adult relationships with college students and said he recognizes he has to be more aware of his position of power.

Morse also says he has no plans to quit the Congressional race; he's facing incumbent Richard Neal in the Democratic primary.

Morse is in a hotly contested race for Congressman Richard Neal's Congressional seat. Neal has not commented.
