The Springfield City Council wants to discuss concerns about rising electric bills during the coronavirus pandemic with Eversource.
A hearing has been set for Thursday with company officials.
A spokesman for the company says the amount of energy being consumed is higher this year with more people working from home, more remote learning, and extremely hot weather.
City Councilor Marcus Williams says board members are getting phone calls and emails from residents who are complaining about their bills being significantly higher.
The company has answered similar questions last week when lawmakers wanted answers as to poor restoration times during a recent storm and higher than normal bills.
In some cases the bills were double.
