Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz says the city is ending its Shared Streets and Spaces project on a stretch of Main Street.
Narkewicz said this was meant to create more public space to bring more people downtown to support businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, but he says dozens of business owners expressed opposition.
The mayor said there were others that credited the project with helping them survive, and that the city will continue to work with businesses on Main Street that want to create more safe outdoor spaces.
