A Chicopee man is accused of trying to disarm a police officer.
Massachusetts State Police reports indicate Darnell Engram was seen driving a car erratically on I-91 in Springfield Tuesday night, was pulled over off the highway, and was ordered to step out of the car because he was not wearing corrective lenses required to drive.
Police say Engram then tried to run, but was caught.
That's when he allegedly attempted to remove the firearm from a Springfield police officer who had responded to the traffic stop.
Engram faces charges for the alleged scuffle and for possessing a loaded handgun during the incident.
