A massive fire at Bondi's Island in West Springfield!
The first of the alarms came in Thursday afternoon and the wind swept blaze and smoke could be seen for miles.
Officials have not speculated on a cause of the blaze. There were no injuries.
80 firefighters from 11 different departments worked through the overnight to prevent a re-sparking of the blaze.
Officials have said only that the fire is "contained".
Local officials have asked residents who live around the Bondi's facility to close windows to prevent smoke issues. The air quality is being monitored.
Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno has called for an investigation into the blaze. Springfield has jurisdiction over the management of the landfill.
Route 5 in both directions is down to one lane. Officials have asked that you avoid the area.
