The Springfield Police Department on Monday announced the recovery of nearly thirty-thousand bags of heroin. The Springfield PD says after a nearly-year-long investigation, detectives observed narcotics transactions from a home on Quincy Street last Friday and they went inside. Four Springfield residents were charged with drug-trafficking; six arrests were made in total.
Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno says now is the time for the courts to keep the violent offenders locked up and "off my streets and out of my neighborhoods."
Sarno has filed for legislative approval a series of bail reforms that would among other things the ability for prosecutors to appeal low bails.
The measure has not been debated yet by either the House or the Senate.
