A report was released on Veterans Day on the topic of renovations to the Holyoke Soldiers' Home.
The building itself has received some of the blame for 76 veteran residents dying from COVID-19 this year.
The report from a firm appointed by the state says the Soldiers' Home has overcrowded rooms and is functionally obsolete.
The report says that there is a need for between 180 and 204 private rooms and an expansion of services particularly to Day Resident Services
The report estimates improvements could cost up to three-hundred-million dollars.
Massachusetts is seeking federal funding for the project.
