Gas Station Owner Wants Council To Apply Brakes On Dirt Bike Proposal

The owner of Pride gas stations spoke out on Monday against a proposed Springfield ordinance meant to curb the riding of street-illegal vehicles.

Robert Bolduc told the Springfield City Council he is concerned about the safety of his workers who would have to tell riders of dirt bikes and ATVs they cannot re-fuel at that station.

Bolduc reminded the council about what happened at Springfield's "X" intersection a week ago.

A group of dirt bikers are alleged to have brutally beaten a driver during a confrontation.

Councilor Orlando Ramos, who proposed the ordinance, said the city will not be intimidated into inaction.

Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno has already said he would support such a measure if it got to his desk. It is unclear whether the city council will take up the issue at its meeting next week.
