Governor Charlie Baker is still considering whether to institute new indoor mask requirements following updated federal guidance. The Centers for Disease Control has recommended that people return to wearing masks indoors in high transmission areas. Five Massachusetts counties fall into that category, including the populous Suffolk and Bristol counties. Baker says any return of masking is a big decision, and officials still need to process the guidance.
Meantime, Connecticut officials say things will stay the same in that state for the time being as Governor Ned Lamont is pleading with the Food And Drug Administration to give final approval to all three Coronavirus Vaccines. Lamont says the ongoing reliance on emergency authorization of the vaccines is discouraging people from getting the shots. The governor says the FDA needs to step up and make up their minds on these vaccines. He believes the failure to give final approvals is discouraging some people from getting vaccinated.
