Senate Committee Splits On US Attorney Nominee From State

A congressional committee has deadlocked on the nomination of Rachael Rollins to be Massachusetts U.S. attorney.

Republicans have targeted the Suffolk DA's nomination, saying she's a prosecutor in name only who advocates for criminals.

The Senate Judiciary Committee vote yesterday was an eleven-eleven tie, which will delay the nomination.

It means an additional vote of the full Senate just to bring up the nomination, where the opposition of just one Democrat could lead to her rejection.
