Lawmakers Want Fuel Assistance Monies Released Now

As the heating season fast approaches, there's a bipartisan call for the release of federal energy funds.

Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed is among a group of lawmakers urging quick release of Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding.

In a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services, they say with heating oil and natural gas prices surging worldwide, analysts estimate prices for home heating this year could jump 54-percent over last winter.

The Senator says the release of the monies is vitally important to those Ocean Staters and others in need.
