A former Springfield resident is being sentenced for fraudulently obtaining government benefits.
The Justice Department says Andrea Perez Placencia, a Dominican national, was sentenced in Springfield on Wednesday to one year in prison and was ordered to pay over 32-thousand dollars in restitution.
Prosecutors say Perez Placencia used someone else's identity to obtain Section 8 housing benefits and Social Security disability pay from 2017 to earlier this year.
