CVS Closing Pharmacies For Lunch Starting Monday

CVS officials say they want to make sure their pharmacists are at their best. So officials say they will close pharmacies in most, but not all stores for a half hour a day so they can relax and get lunch.

It has been no secret that pharmacists have come under increasing pressure to carry out additional duties during the pandemic. And, the dedicated lunch break will allow them to relax for a little bit before going back to work.

The new protocol will go into effect in Rhode Island and Massachusetts next week.

The company isn't saying which stores will remain open through the lunch break. The dedicated break time will be daily from 1:30 PM to 2PM.

A spokesman for the company says shoppers and patients can build their schedules around that time frame.

Officials say they are proactively moving to advise their patrons of the new lunch hour.

The company says that they appreciate their understanding.
