Snow Makes It Slow Throughout Region

Governor Charlie Baker is urging Massachusetts residents to stay home today as a winter storm impacts the state. The National Weather Service indicates that areas of the state could receive up to a foot of snow before the storm wraps up tonight. The governor says dangerous travel conditions are likely, so people should just stay put if they do not have to go out. The winter storm warning for most of the state ends at midnight tonight.

In Springfield, the snow began falling right around 3:30 this morning. It turned roads slick quite quickly.

Springfield Mayor Dom Sarno had closed City Hall and Municipal offices for the day in addition to cancelling trash pickup.

Area colleges called off classes for the day as well.

Parking bans are in place throughout the entire area.

The storm passes late today and then it will turn colder overnight.

Saturday will see some sun with the hi in the mid 30's.
