Mask mandates are gone in some western Mass communities but not in others.
The mask mandate in schools dissolves as of today- giving the power as to whether masking is necessary in individual school systems to the local communities.
A lot of western Mass communities have opted to lift the mandate, some like Agawam making it voluntary.
But in Springfield- which has been fighting a battle to keep local Covid spread down- the mandate will continue until the middle of March.
The mask mandate stays for students on school buses.
That is a federal mandate.
Meantime, the general mask mandate in Springfield for businesses is lifted as of today as well.
