New Look Springfield Police Commission Named

 

The Springfield Mayor has named the new Police Commission for the city. The five appointees are: 

-- Dr Gary Berte- a criminal justice professor at Springfield College.

-- Madeline Fernandez- a veteran employee in the Sheriff’s Department

-- Robert Jackson- who owns a security business

-- Norman Roldan- a former member of the Springfield School Committee

-- Albert Tranghese- a former labor leader 

 Mayor Dom Sarno says that Cheryl Clapprood will become the Police Superintendent and run the day to day operation of the department. The Mayor says he continues to have complete confidence in the Chief’s ability to lead. 

The Police Commission will have the power to hire, fire and discipline.
