DOJ: Chicopee School Superintendent Arrested

The Chicopee School Superintendent has been arrested by federal officials on charges that she made false statements in connection with the sending of threatening messages to a candidate for Chicopee Police Chief.

51 year old Lynn Clark will make her initial court appearance in Springfield Federal Court today.

According to the complaint, the City of Chicopee was in the hiring process for a new police chief. And, Clark allegedly made threats against the victim in an effort to get that person to withdraw from the hiring process. The complaint says there were 99 such messages.

The US Attorney says the superintendent initially denied sending the messages and that another city employee could have been sending them. Later, the complaint says that she admitted that she did send the messages.

If convicted she faces up to five years in prison and up to a ten thousand dollar fine.

More details are expected during Clark’s first federal court appearance later today.
