The Massachusetts Appeals Court is denying a motion from Eversource in its fight against Springfield over property taxes.
The state Appellate Tax Board's ruling was upheld that Eversource has to pay the bill from a decade ago when Springfield introduced a new property valuation method.
Specifically the company contends that the city is using improper tables to tax its infrastructure including transformers and power poles.
City Councilors Michael Fenton and Timothy Allen claim Eversource owes Springfield over 42-million dollars.
The company says it is reviewing the ruling. The next appeal would have to be directly to the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
