Two bills- one - the Beagle Bill will give life to research animals after medical science is done with them. The measure will allow for the adoption of a research animal under certain circumstances after medical researchers finish their project.
The animals would have to undergo safety checks before being given a second chance at life.
The second- a bill that would ban the sale of puppies and kittens under eight weeks of age. Worcester State Senator Harriette Chandler told senators that stripping the young animals away from their parents prevents them for social interaction which is beneficial in their lives.
There are also increased provisions for doggy daycare and the like. Both bills are scheduled for a final vote shortly.
