Testimony is continuing today in the trial of Volodymyr Zhukovskyy.
On Tuesday, the jury heard opening statements from both the defense and prosecution before the first witnesses took the stand.
The truck driver from West Springfield is accused of being under the influence when he struck and killed seven members of a motorcycle group in Randolph in 2019.
Some of the initial witnesses described what they saw as they came about the crash site.
A registered nurse said she saw limbs and broken bones like nothing she ever saw before at any hospital.
Another witness compared the carnage to a plane crash while another said "it was like a war zone."
More than 100 witnesses may be called to testify during the trial which is expected to last a few weeks.
The defense has not determined yet whether Zhukovskyy will testify in his own defense.
