Springfield's newest City Council member is Lavar Click-Bruce.
He defeated Edward Collins in a special election on Tuesday for the Ward 5 seat.
The final tally was 653 votes for Click-Bruce and 609 for Collins.
Former city council president Marcus Williams resigned from the seat in May to take a position in Amherst.
