The Civic Center Parking Garage in downtown Springfield is being reduced to rubble.
Demolition on the 51-year-old facility started on Friday.
Governor Charlie Baker ceremoniously tore off a parking sign at the garage while operating an excavator last month.
A replacement parking and retail space is planned.
The project is expected to be fully completed in 2024.
