After Springfield Probe- DOJ Looks Into Worcester PD

The U.S. Justice Department is launching an investigation into the Worcester Police Department.

The feds will assess whether Worcester police officers engage in a pattern of using excessive force against suspects.

Councilors are hoping for an open investigation with all aspects of the department on the table.

Mayor Joe Petty told reporters last night that the city will cooperate with the investigation.

The DOJ earlier this year announced a consent decree with the Springfield Police Department to resolve similar allegations.

The Springfield investigation took about four years to complete.
