New FBI data shows that the number of hate crimes in Massachusetts rose substantially in 2021 over the previous year.
There were 407 hate crimes reported last year, which is a 31 percent increase over the 310 hate crimes in the state in 2020.
There were 111 hate crimes reported in Boston last year, which was a huge jump from the 44 reported in the city in 2020.
Nationwide, there were more than 72 hundred hate crimes reported in the FBI data.
