The Springfield Thunderbirds won on the road Wednesday, beating the Bridgeport Islanders in overtime 2-to-1.
Jake Neighbours got the T-Birds the win, as he carried the puck toward the bottom of the left-wing circle and sneaked a shot under the crossbar, short-side.
The beautiful release at 3:03 overtime gave the rookie his second goal in two games and his first professional overtime goal.
The game winner ended a defensive, playoff struggle.
Springfield has now earned seven of a possible eight points in its last four games played.
Springfield earned its tenth win of the season to pull up to a 500 record.
The Thunderbirds have two more road games this weekend, Friday at Syracuse and Saturday versus Utica.
