In person betting on sports is now available in Massachusetts.
The first bets were placed on games yesterday at MGM Springfield where Mayor Dom Sarno placed the first bet, $50 on the Eagles to win the Super Bowl.
Boston Bruins Legend Raymond Borque (photo below center) followed up with a 100-dollar bet on the Boston Bruins to win the Stanley Cup.
The launch yesterday comes in time for legal bets to be placed on the Super Bowl, which is being held on February 12th.
Sports betting is expected to take in some 50 million dollars a year in revenues.
Now state officials are working toward getting on-line sports betting in place. That could happen in time for the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
