Online sports betting begins in Massachusetts today.
Sports books approved to operate in the state will begin offering sports betting to people 21 and older on phone based apps and home computers.
The six sports books launching apps today are run by MGM, Wynn, FanDuel, Caesars, Barstool and Boston based DraftKings. Computer experts are reminding people who may participate to make sure they are downloading apps only with reputable sites.
In person sports betting is currently available at Encore Boston Harbor, Plainridge Park in Plainville and at MGM in Springfield.
