The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is reversing a lower court's decision to dismiss indictments against a Springfield police officer and one of the owners of Nathan Bill's Bar and Restaurant.
The state filed charges accusing a group of officers of covering up a fight that happened between off-duty members and several civilians who had crossed paths at the East Forest Park restaurant in 2015.
Officer Derrick Gentry-Mitchell and Nathan Bill's co-owner Joseph Sullivan are accused of misleading Springfield detectives and FBI agents.
The High Court ruled that the lower trial court erred when it dismissed the charges against the pair.
