A statewide air quality alert has been issued for Massachusetts and Rhode Island today because of smoke from wildfires in Canada.
The state Department of Environmental Protection says the smoke is expected to spread across the state today and remain in place for most of the day.
This will mean unhealthy air quality for people with respiratory issues or other health problems.
People in sensitive groups should reduce prolonged activity or heavy outdoor exertion and take frequent breaks.
