Massachusetts has seen a two and a half percent increase in opioid related deaths last year.
The report from the state health department shows an actual increase of 57 fatalities statewide.
In Western Mass, Hampden County saw 222 fatalities last year... Hampshire County 349... Franklin County 198. The report also shows Chicopee with 33 fatalities...Holyoke with 23 and Springfield 104.
Officials say moving forward they will prioritize overdose death prevention along with an investment in services designed to prevent people from using to begin with.
