Trevor May notched his seventh save as the A's snapped an eight-game losing skid.
JJ Bleday and Ryan Noda each homered as Oakland improved to 26-and-71.
The Red Sox were limited to just five hits and went 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in the losing effort.
Boston starter Joe Jacques was charged his first loss after letting up three earned runs in one-and-a-third frames.
The Red Sox are fourth in the AL East at 51-and-45.
