Springfield officials unveiled new plans on Tuesday for the notorious traffic intersection known as "The X".
Three main roads in the Forest Park neighborhood, Sumner and Belmont Avenues and Dickinson Street, all cross one another in the current configuration.
There have been numerous complaints over the years about safety and congestion.
The change being overseen by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation will re-route Belmont Ave away from "The X".
Bidding for the 19 million dollar project is expected to go out next spring.
